The Marble Print Bar | Hanging Print Drying Rack for Linocut and Relief Printing
Hanging Print Drying Rack for Linocut and Relief Printing
Table space runs out fast when you're printing an edition. Prints need somewhere to go while they dry, and horizontal surfaces fill up quickly. The Marble Print Bar hangs from your ceiling and holds 17 freshly printed linocuts or woodcuts in open air, using glass marbles to gently wedge each print in place.
No clips. No pressure points. Just a clean, dry print when you come back to it.
How it works:
Each bar is a 36" solid wood bar with 17 evenly spaced slots. A 1" glass marble sits in each slot. Slide your freshly printed sheet between the marble and the wood, and the marble holds it gently upright while it dries. When it's ready, the print lifts out cleanly with no marks on the surface.
The bar hangs from three pre-installed eye hooks, two at the ends and one centered, for even weight distribution across a full load of prints.
Materials and construction:
Each bar is milled to precise tolerances from a single piece of solid wood and hand-finished with a water-based matte varnish. The varnish keeps the wood durable and makes cleanup easy if ink finds its way onto the surface.
Available in hard maple or walnut for the first release. More wood options will be added over time.
What you get:
Solid wood bar, 36" long, hand-finished with water-based matte varnish.
17 glass marbles in your chosen color: white, green, black, clear, opaque blue or clear blue. Want a different color? Send a message before ordering and I'll let you know what's available.
Three pre-installed eye hooks
Wood options: hard maple or walnut
Dimensions: 36" long x 1.5" wide x 1.8" tall
Capacity: 17 prints per bar
You'll supply your own rope and ceiling hardware to suit your space.
Modular by design:
One bar handles a small studio run or occasional printing. Two gives you enough capacity for regular edition work. Three covers a full edition with room left over.
Single bar (1 bar, 17 prints) — $158
Studio Pair (2 bars, 34 prints) — $298 (save $18)
Edition System (3 bars 51 prints) — $449 (save $25)
Bars can be hung at the same height or staggered depending on your ceiling and how you want to work. Adding a second or third bar later is straightforward.
Processing time is two weeks. You'll receive a shipping notification once your order is on its way.
A note on paper:
This bar is designed for freshly printed linocuts and woodcuts with damp ink, and for holding prints between color layers. It's not suitable for soaking-wet paper. The marble contact point can mark paper that's still saturated with water.
FAQ:
What size prints does this hold? The Marble Print Bar works with any paper thickness, from thin Japanese tissue to heavy cotton rag. Print width isn't constrained by the bar itself, though very wide sheets may bow slightly while hanging. Each print is held at a single point by one marble.
Can I choose my marble color? Yes. At checkout you can select from the available colors listed above. For something different, send a message before ordering and I'll confirm availability.
How do I hang it? The Marble Print Bar comes with three eye hooks already installed. You'll supply your own rope and ceiling hardware to suit your space.
Can I add more bars later? Yes. Each bar is sold individually or as a two or three bar bundle. If you start with one and want to expand, additional bars can be ordered anytime.
How long until it ships? Production time is two weeks. You'll get a shipping notification as soon as it's on its way.
